Coheed & Cambria musicians
It would be hard to find a band with grander artistic scope than Coheed and Cambria. Over the course of six years and four groundbreaking albums, the New York foursome has diligently developed a unique sound combining forward-thinking classic rock with strong pop sensibilities and intricate musicianship. Simultaneously, through his lyrics and comics, Sanchez has created a celebrated epic alternate universe called The Amory Wars, in which lies an ongoing conceptual tale that gains depth and complexity with each and every record. Coheed and Cambria is: Claudio Sanchez - lead vocals, guitars, keyboards & Synth, Travis Stever - guitars, lap steel, vocals, Michael Todd - bass, vocals, Chris Pennie - drums.
Pennywise musicians
Pennywise was one of the key bands of the punk-revival of the '90s. Using Californian hardcore as a foundation, the group incorporated funk-metal and skate-punk into their sound, developing a sound that functioned as edgy, post-punk frat rock -- it was speedy and occasionally stupidly catchy, with heavy, propulsive rhythms and positive, optimistic lyrics that stood in pointed contrast to their grunge-addled peers. Pennywise is: Jim Lindberg - vocals, Fletcher Dragge - guitars, Randy Bradbury - bass, Byron McMackin - drums.
Bad Religion musicians
The music has the furious beat and driving buzz saw guitars of classic punk rock, but when a vocal chorus cuts in, it is surprisingly harmonious and emotionally evocative, reminiscent of The Beatles or The Everly Brothers. This is a sonic contradiction that works to stunning effect. It is also a sound that has come to define one of the world’s most original rock bands, Bad Religion. To call Bad Religion simply a punk band is akin to labeling the Who, a mod band, or Pet Sounds era Beach Boys, surf music. True, these bands were each defined by a time and a place – and you can definitely hear echoes of the Los Angeles punk scene in Bad Religion’s melodic and energetic music. But like the other bands, Bad Religion has both honored and yet completely transcended their roots. Bad Religion is: Greg Graffin - vocals, Greg Hetson - guitar, Brett Gurewitz - guitar, Brian Baker - guitar, Jay Bentley - bass, Brooks Wackerman - drums.
Meg & Dia musicians
Crafting a sound halfway between alternative rock and confessional singer/songwriter pop, the Utah-based band Meg & Dia began as a way for Meg and Dia Frampton to play music together. The Frampton sisters' dad was a DJ and the girls were exposed to a wide range of music while they were growing up, and were encouraged to express themselves through music: Dia sang at county fairs, while Meg guitar by playing along with the radio. Though the sisters played in several bands throughout their teen years, they took a break from the music business when Meg went to college in Salt Lake City. By 2005, though, the Framptons were ready to try again, so Dia joined Meg in SLC. In search of a bigger sound, the pair recruited drummer Nicholas Price and guitarist Kenji Chan; with their lineup complete, they recorded their first album, Our Home Is Gone, which they self-released later that year. The album, and Meg & Dia's live shows, caught the attention of Doghouse Records, which signed the band late in 2005 and put them in the studio with producers Stacy Jones and Bill Lefler to work on their first album for the label. Along with recording, Meg & Dia spent 2006 touring, including a stint on the Warped Tour's MySpace stage that summer. Their first Doghouse release, the What Is It? A Fender Bender EP, also arrived that summer, with the full-length Something Real coming out shortly after. That fall, Chan left the band amicably, but the sisters soon found themselves talking with Warner Bros, and soon had signed to the major label. Something Real was then released in summer 2007, just in time for Meg & Dia's dates on that year's Warped Tour. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide. Meg & Dia is: Dia-vocals, Meg-guitar/vocals, Nick-drums, Carlo-guitar, Jonathan-bass.
